Under the umbrella of Evangelization, Christian Service provides opportunities for parishioners to live out the Corporal Works of Mercy and Catholic Social Teaching.
At Prince of Peace, we strive -- through education, charitable collections, and outreach opportunities -- to transform the heart of the one who serves while transforming the lives of those who are served.
Every day, parishioners can be involved in living out their faith through any of the ongoing service opportunities.
As Catholics, we have many role models of what it means to live out our baptismal call to service, especially by walking in the footsteps of Mother Teresa and learning from the words and actions of Pope Francis. We have a rich tradition.
Check this site regularly, as needs are constantly changing.
For many years Prince of Peace has been serving, supporting and feeding those most in need in the Detroit Brightmoor community. Since the onset of COVID-19 the Soup Kitchen had to change how they supplied eat-in meals and is now strictly carryout. We continue to supply the Soup Kitchen with food and supplies necessary to serve their clients. To make a mometary donation place cash or checks made out to Prince of Peace in the Poor Box located in the back of church.
Building Dreams - Bunk Beds for Kids
Parish Lenten Outreach Project - 2022
Prince of Peace is working with the organization Sleep in Heavenly Peace of Western Wayne County, a nationwide non-profit organization that builds beds for children who do not have one. We will be building 50 beds and need 100 volunteers to accomplish this project. Here is what is needed:
Fundraising: The cost of the build is $10,000.00 ($200.00 per bed). The cost includes bed, mattress, pillow, sheets and comforter. There are two ways to give. Envelopes are available in the Gathering Space for cash or checks (payable to Prince of Peace) or use Prince of Peace online giving by going to the parish website and click on Sleep In Heavenly Peace box on the home page. $200 for a ready-to-go bed is quite the deal. Any amount is accepted and appreciated. Also needed - Twin size "Bed-in-a-Bag Sets" - drop off in Gathering Space.
Volunteers: On Saturday, April 2, 2022 - 100 volunteers ages 12 (accompanied by a parent) and up are needed for the 4 hour build starting at 8:30 a.m. ending at 12:30 p.m . Arrive 30 minutes early to check in.
No experience needed. All personal supplies (gloves, glasses, dust masks, water and donuts) are supplied by SHP
Attire: work clothes that you do not mind getting dirty or stained.

Prince of Peace has joined with our family parish, Our Lady Refuge, in supplying dinner three times a week (M-W-F) for the men living at Angel's Place Maxwell Home for Men.
Do you like to cook?
Then you would be a great candidate to sign up to make and take meals to
Angel's Place Maxwell Home located on Saddlewood Drive near Marshbank Park
Why are we doing this?
The men who live on Saddlewood Drive, known as Maxwell Home, are in advanced age and are in need of extra care from the staff. Supplying the home with dinner 3 nights a week (M-W-F) allows the staff to focus on the care of the men and are not distracted by meal prep.
How does it work?
